Energy Efficiency This Winter

We are big on efficiency and bringing you the most energy efficient heating equipment options is just one way we look out for our customers.

The standards for energy efficiency are set by the U.S. Dept. of Energy. For gas and oil-fired heating equipment, we look at the AFUE (Average Fuel Utilization Efficiency). It’s shown in percentages and the number indicates how much fuel is used to heat a house — and how much is wasted. For example, an 80% AFUE rating means that 20% is wasted. So, the higher the number, the better the efficiency and the least waste.

As you can imagine, replacing an old, inefficient heating system can result in significant energy savings, as much as 40%!
