No one can deny that we've been around for a long time, but if you're new to Rural Fuels there are two things you should know about us: (1) we were founded on hard work and dependability and (2) we are committed to our community & customer excellence. It’s that simple!

Over 70 years ago, we saw a need for reliable fuel delivery in some of our surrounding rural towns and thus, Rural Fuels was born.

How it started…

**1947**
Rural Gas Company was founded in response to a growing propane demand post-war

**Early 1950’s**
The Company purchased its first bobtail as propane increased in popularity for space and water heating

**Late 1950’s**
Service was added to the Company’s offerings with the addition of two service propane vehicles

**1960’s**
The Company acquired four local competitors in order to expand its service territory

**1970’s & 1980’s**
The Company focused on growth, increasing their fleet to 10 bobtails and 6 service vehicles serving Fairfield and New Haven counties

**1990’s to 2000’s**
The Company expanded its territory into Litchfield county and added capacity to the bulk storage plant in Trumbull

**2016**
The Company purchased Continental Fuels in Bridgeport adding heating oil delivery, HVAC service & installation to its offerings

**2018**
The Company rebranded to Rural Fuels
